The Smyrna Team Invites You to Learn More About Smyrna – The Jonquil City

The City of Smyrna has developed a reputation for smart growth and was recently awarded the Urban Land Institute’s Award for Excellence.  With visionary leadership and strong community spirit, Smyrna has become one of the most popular places to reside in the metro-Atlanta area. Voted by Atlanta Magazine as one of the top 10 places to live in the Atlanta area, it is no wonder that more people are choosing the "small town" atmosphere offered here.
Smyrna features charming neighborhoods with a vast array of amenities for residents and businesses, including parks, jogging trails, pools, lighted tennis courts, public golf courses and much more.  The revitalized and active new downtown area, called "The Village Green," includes a new library, community center, retail development and mixed-use development, city hall and charming homes.

Smyrna is located about 10 miles northwest of Atlanta, Georgia, and is considered an integral part of the Metro Atlanta area.  The City is strategically located near three interstate and intrastate highway systems: I-75, I-20, and I-285.  Downtown Atlanta is a 15-minute drive via the interstate and Atlanta’s Hartsfield International Airport is only a 30-minute drive away.  In addition, several principal arterial roadways, such as Cobb Parkway (U.S. Highway 41), Atlanta Road (State Highway 3) and South Cobb Drive (State Highway 280), pass through the municipality.  Smyrna also benefits from the route of the East-West Connector road extension through Cobb County.  The Cobb Community Transit (CCT) bus system provides public transportation for our residents with links to the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) rapid-rail network.  There are also two major railways that service Smyrna and four airports can be found within an 18-mile radius of the City.

Smyrna real estate has grown by leaps and bounds over the last 5-7 years.  Quaint and sturdy brick ranches on large lots mix easily with spacious and luxurious new homes in all styles.  Prices range from the mid $100s to over $1 million. Smyrna also has quite a few townhome complexes that have become very popular recently, with prices ranging from the low $100s to the $700s.

There truly is something for everyone in Smyrna.  First-time homebuyers can still find a quality-built home in a mature and safe neighborhood with easy access to the freeways and shopping.  Young professionals love the convenience of the Smyrna location while still having a large home in a family-oriented swim/tennis neighborhood.  Many of these communities also offer lawn maintenance for those busy families.  Empty nesters will also find Smyrna an enjoyable place to reside.  The original neighborhoods built in the 50s and 60s offer one-level homes, and many have been completely renovated to today’s modern standards with gourmet kitchens and luxurious baths. Those who have lived in Smyrna for a long time will remember the days when you still had to drive to Buckhead or Midtown for a nice dinner out or to shop for clothes at the boutiques.  Well, those days are long gone now that Smyrna has stepped it up to include wonderful restaurants of all kinds, and cute boutiques that are popping up all over the place.  You can find gourmet Southern cuisine, sushi, Italian, and upscale taverns.  And those not wanting to drive to Lenox or Perimeter malls can find clothing boutiques as well as unique home furnishing and accessories stores.  With the extensive renovation of Cumberland Mall, set to open in fall of 2006, Smyrna will truly be “the place to be!”
