Smyrna will be lit up for the holiday season and there’s plenty to see and do near the Village Green. If you want to get out and about, you’ll find that the area has many diversions to enjoy this December, as well. Check below to see more of what’s going on this month!

Coming Home for the Holidays: Village Green, Smyrna

This event starts on December 1 from 5 to 8pm; the annual kickoff of the holiday season in Smyrna. December 1 will mark the first lighting of the city’s Christmas tree. The tree will be situated at Village Green and the entirety of downtown will be lit up. Even if you’re not doing any shopping, the holiday season is a great time to wander around downtown Smyrna and see the city at its best.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

Head to the Atlanta Center for Puppetry Arts to catch a live performance of this beloved holiday classic. It plays several times during each week of December, so it’s perfect for busy people. It’s a great place to take your kids and, of course, if you happen to have a love of Rudolph, there’s no reason to not go by yourself, either. You can get more information about the performance here. The show is rated as appropriate for ages four and up!

Lights of LIFE

You can check out one of the best light shows in the area by taking a short drive to Marietta. The Lights of LIFE Event is hosted by Life University at 1269 Barclay Circle in Marietta. The show costs $5 per car on Monday through Thursday and $10 per car over the weekends, including Friday. You can wander through the campus and see some spectacular displays. The campus changes the lightshow every year and some of the displays are over sixty feet in height! You can get more information about the event here. This is one of the most affordable light shows in the Smyrna area and it’s a short drive, so Lights of LIFE is well-worth seeing.

Santa Express

Need a getaway that’s good for the whole family and that doesn’t involve dealing with the hassles of holiday airline trips? The Santa Express is a good choice. The ride lasts a bit over an hour and you will have to drive up to Blue Ridge Scenic Railway to participate, but it might be just the thing if you want to get out of the house this December and have a good time doing it! The train ride takes place at various times during the month of December. You can get ticketing information here.

There are many more events in the Smyrna area to enjoy this holiday season. Don’t forget to decorate your Smyrna home if you’re so inclined! Good lighting displays are great ways to start a conversation with the neighbors if you’ve just moved to town.
